Our website is designed to bring together all of the content relevant to the task you have at hand, quickly and clearly. This guide should help you make the most of the services we have available.
Navigation - Header Tool Bars
The main sections of the site can be accessed via the header toolbar at the top of the page. This will take you to the main nodes within the site. Each node page contains direct links to all of the underlying applications and content for that section.
To keep things simple, we use standard HTML links within text as our main form of navigation. This is how a link to this page will appear .
Navigation - Portlets
Many pages feature Portlets on the right hand side of the page. These hold links to items of related or interesting content. In certain cases they contain navigation links or special services for use within the page.
Navigation - Crumb Trail
At the top of each page you will find a "crumb trail" which will help you quickly navigate within a section or application. Often using the crumb trail will be quicker than using the "Back" button of your browser.
The crumb trail is only truly accurate within a section or application. If you switch sections or applications readily, then the crumb trail will be reset.
We have tried to make the site as accessible as possible from the widest range of browsers on a broad range of operating systems. The site should function acceptably using Netscape(4+), IE(4+), Mozilla and Opera on Windows, Mac, Solaris, HP-UX and Linux platforms. (UN*X and Linux users may have to adjust X11 font settings in some cases). The minimal use of images also means that the site should be accessible from text browsers such as Lynx and those found on PDAs.
The site will work on older browsers, but as we use the HTML 4 standard with Style Sheet Positioning the page layout may be lost.
